Metropole Shahrah-e-Faisal

Metropole Shahrah-e-Faisal is the prestigious locations in Karachi when it comes to co-work sharing. If you are from Karachi you have definitely heard of the word Metropole. You always wonder what it looks like in its heyday.

CoVurc has partnered with WorkHall.co for their co-work sharing offices at Metropole location. However, before we talk about the offices and WorkHall; let’s talk about the location and the importance of it.

Metropole History

Metropole building was erected by Cyrus Minwalla. The land was donated by the Dinshaw family. The building was erected in 1954. Now, the building is owned by Habibullah Khan, a billionaire.

Did you know that Dizzie Gillespie, an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer, educator and singer, played in this building?

Metropole Surrounding Businesses

If you are a history craving person; you will love this location. You have to understand one thing though that it was one of the finest 5-star hotel in the beginning. This location is also famous for travel companies. Several major western airlines in the past have used Metropole for their crew stay.

In the surroundings, you will find airline agents, chartered plane companies, rent-a-car companies, hand-made Afghan carpets, travel store and more.

At current moment, you will find a street library. Of course, no one sits there in the scorching sun to read a book. However, it’s a good initiative to make a habit of reading.

You really can’t miss Zaibunnisa Street. At one time back in history; this was the prestigious business market place. At current moment, modern malls have taken its place.

All Pakistan Women Association (APWA)

Behind the Metropole, there is an APWA building. It used to be an old office. They have moved though to a new location. APWA was founded by Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan. Her husband was the first prime minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

As a history buff, I like to explore Karachi either high posh areas or poverty-ridden areas. I like to walk among the colonial-era commercial areas that includes Saddar, Zaibunnisa Street, Preedy Street, Avari Hotel, Abdullah Haroon Road, Club Road, Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, etc.
